Issues
- Lower Taxes for Pennsylvania Families, Businesses - Working families and job creators have built our great Commonwealth through hard work and sacrifice. Yet, those same families and businesses have become the target for government tax hounds, making it virtually impossible for our state's economy to sustain long-term gains.
- Establish Smaller Government - State government spending has increased by epic proportions in the last three decades as Pennsylvania has moved from a part-time to full-time legislature, and the executive branch continues to expand its services. At the same time, local governments continue to spend tax dollars well above the rate of inflation and have little, if any, accountability.
- Reinvigorate Free Enterprise -- The U.S. Economic Freedom Index (2004 Report) ranks Pennsylvania 45th in government friendliness toward free enterprise. Pennsylvania's high levels of taxation, onerous regulations, lawsuit abuse and other governmental infringements on our economic freedom have all sent a message that the state is "Closed for Business."
- School Choice - Current public schooling efforts are bogged down by layers of bureaucracy and political agendas which undermine the ability of the school to fulfill their primary mission which is to educate students. Competitive independent enterprise allows for unlimited innovation in the learning environment. Parents should be allowed Tuition Tax Credits; which would enable all children the freedom to pursue an education in the primary and secondary institution of their own choosing. By providing tax credits to individual families choosing to pursue alternatives to public education, government regulation of independent schools can be avoided. Also, parents who currently choose independent schools for their childrenŐs education should not have to support the public schools in addition to paying their childrenŐs independent school tuition.
